How can we retain the high standards we have for Nature’s Yoke without “taking charge” of the farms that provide our free-range eggs?
The answer can be found in how we select and support our farmers.
Most importantly, we partner with family-run farms in a way that honors and supports the values of everyone involved in the process of getting our free-range eggs to your table.
It all starts with the very nature of the relationship we build with each of our farmers.
While some egg companies take partial ownership over the hens their farms raise, and while doing this can be more profitable for the egg company, we want our free-range hen farmers to retain full ownership of their hens and remain in charge of how they run their farms.
We believe this type of partnership is better for the farmers and their families because they feel our trust. Especially, in their capability to make smart decisions that will sustain the health of their businesses and help them grow in a way that aligns with our vision of a “modern family farm.”

In short, we put a lot of energy into creating forward-thinking partnerships with the goal of ensuring success for everyone — and our farmers, their families and employees put in equal effort.
This means we spend time talking with and visiting each other, as well as sharing experiences and knowledge in service of helping each other thrive.
In other words, Nature’s Yoke would never find a farm that meets our standards, sign a contract and walk away. Rather, we create an extended family. One that stays in touch, shares ideas and celebrates together.

Because all our free-range eggs are Certified Humane, the farms we select meet the standards set by Humane Farm Animal Care’s Certified Humane program, and also meet our own benchmark of what free-range hen farms should be like (which you can see in the photos above and throughout this website).
Once we decide to work with a family farm, we continue to deepen our partnership by getting to know everyone on the farm and by giving them all the support they want or need.
Additionally, we make it a practice to listen and learn from them.
