
Old Fashioned Gingerbread
Old Fashioned Gingerbread is a delightful holiday favorite! Serve it with vanilla ice cream; toast a slice in the toaster and drizzle with caramel sauce topped with a scoop of ice cream; or, frost with cream cheese frosting. Any way you serve it you will love it!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 Nature's Yoke Duck egg
- 1 cup blackstrap molasses
- 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Blend into the creamed mixture. Stir in the hot water. Pour into the prepared pan.
- Bake 1 hour in preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan before serving.
