Ingredients
- 2 cup plus 2 T. flour
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp Saigon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 Nature's Yoke eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cup chopped Fuji apples
FROSTING INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup butter
- 6 tbsp milk
- 3 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 1/2 cup caramel topping
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and cinnamon.
- In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water and shortening. Bring to a boil.
- Add sauce to flour mixture and mix together. Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs and vanilla in that order, mixing in between each addition.
- Stir in apples.
- Pour batter in 15 x 13 greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 20 minutes. Let cool for 10-15 minutes.
FROSTING DIRECTIONS:
- While cake is cooling, combine butter and milk in microwave safe bowl. Heat until butter is melted.
- Add the rest of the frosting ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.
