Caramel Apple Sheet Cake

- 2 cup plus 2 T. flour
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp Saigon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 Nature's Yoke eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cup chopped Fuji apples
FROSTING INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup butter
- 6 tbsp milk
- 3 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 1/2 cup caramel topping
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and cinnamon.
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water and shortening. Bring to a boil.
Add sauce to flour mixture and mix together. Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs and vanilla in that order, mixing in between each addition.
Stir in apples.
Pour batter in 15 x 13 greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 20 minutes. Let cool for 10-15 minutes.
FROSTING DIRECTIONS:
While cake is cooling, combine butter and milk in microwave safe bowl. Heat until butter is melted.
Add the rest of the frosting ingredients and mix until smooth.
Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.
